Asia: India and Maldives renewed an MoU to train 1,000 Maldivian civil servants between 2024 and 2029, following the success of a previous collaboration. The partnership, renewed during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's visit, will enhance civil servants' capabilities in public policy, governance, and field administration, strengthening bilateral ties.
Australia: The sixth India-Australia Maritime Security Dialogue, held in Canberra, focused on enhancing bilateral maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean region. Key topics included maritime security, Search and Rescue (SAR), pollution response, and the blue economy. The next round of discussions is scheduled to be held in New Delhi.
Africa: Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has declared the Mpox outbreak in Africa a global health emergency. With 537 deaths and 15,600 cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the virus has spread to 12 other African countries, including new ones.
